Manage the component machining and assembly process to optimize the use of all resources in meeting and/or exceeding established plant goals in cabinet assembly.
Essential Functions:
1. Develop and implement a strategic plan that enables the plant component operations to achieve a world class standard. This includes the development and execution of both the long and near term action steps. 2. Drive efforts to support the pursuit of both the Company and Plant vision. 3. Hire train and develop a high performing leadership team in assigned area. 4. Maximize the efficiency of material flow and reduce the non-value added cost throughout operations of the machining and assembly of frame components and machining, assembly, profiling, and sanding of door components. This high velocity throughput will be facilitated by implementing the appropriate use of kanban replenishment pull systems and supermarkets, establishing and tracking the key metrics of time efficiency, identifying time traps and capacity constraints, computing minimum safe batch sizes, reducing set-up times, optimizing work cell designs, balancing processes, implementing mistake proofing initiatives, developing visual controls, reducing scrap and repairs, and improving First Pass Yield. 5. Provide feedback to providers related to meeting or exceeding expectations defined. 6. Work with Engineering to improve equipment uptime, capability and reliability through the passionate facilitation of TPM initiatives and the AWC SEE (Strategic Equipment Excellence) program as well as all five phases of Six-Sigma improvement or the Defining, Measuring, Analyzing, Improving, and Controlling of equipment related problems. 7. Identifying and eliminating waste throughout the product flow through the application of lean tools including but not limited to value stream mapping, quality at the source, 5S workplace organization, single piece flow, mistake-proofing, visual management, standard work, set-up reduction, production leveling, work balancing, process mapping, cellular manufacturing, swim-lane flowcharts and Pareto charts. 8. Lead efforts to improve quality, safety and productivity. 9. Manage all daily production activities of the Mill. 10. Plan department's activities to support SQDC targets, and meet and/or exceed client and/or customer's expectations. 11. Sponsor, lead, and/or facilitate Kaizen events and actively participate on assigned teams and/or projects. 12. Ensure assigned departments perform tasks as outlined in Job Instruction Breakdowns, Quality Specifications, and Standard Operating Practices. 13. Maintain client-provider relationship with finishing operations and shipping departments. 14. Participate in identifying crewing needs; employee selection, hiring, and training process 15. Provide communication on departmental expectations, motivate team members, and identify opportunity for improvements. 16. Provide team leadership consistent with company vision, mission, CITE principles. 17. Ensure Policies and procedures are followed and provide guidance and discipline. 18. Effectively utilize all resources to maximum potential performance to achieve SQDC goals. 19. Establish individual goals for team members in alignment with overall organization goals and performs periodic performance reviews to determine progress. 20. Responsibilities:
Will supervise and salaried managers and supervisors in the assigned department and/or departments. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of direct reports in the mill areas of the plant. Carries out manager responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employee; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each job responsibility effectively. The requirements listed below are representative of the experience, knowledge, skill, ability and responsibilities required. Education, Experience, and Skills:
Undergraduate degree in Engineering, Business, or related discipline; extensive work experience may be considered in lieu of education. Minimum of 5 years of manufacturing experience; wood related and wood finishing preferred. Minimum of 5 years of supervision experience; multiple departments Prior Lean certification and experience in the implementation of lean manufacturing principles is a MUST. Prefer 2-5 years of manufacturing experience as a Plant Level Team member or the equivalent; preferably in operations, materials, quality, or engineering. Other fields will be considered based on individual accomplishments. Must have experience in wood finishing, material flows and inventory management, continuous improvement practices, and process analysis. Must have a demonstrated history of successfully leading and facilitating changes that involve all levels of employees with measurable results. Must possess the ability to learn new concepts and pass the knowledge along to others in the classroom and through practical experience. Must be a highly energized and self-motivated individual with experience successfully leading teams to implement change. Must possess exemplary communication skills. Should possess excellent personal computer skills in a network environment; Microsoft Office experience preferred - Outlook-Word-Excel. Must possess strong planning/organization & time management skills.
Salary Range:
$100K -- $150K
Minimum Qualification
Plant & Facilities ManagementEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
